Introducing Fort Wayne Chiropractor Dr. John Goebel
Dr. John Goebel
"Doctor after doctor told me it was hopeless.," says Dr. Goebel. "I was seriously injured in a water skiing accident in my teens. It left me partially paralyzed and bed-ridden in a plaster body cast. The neurosurgeon did not expect me to regain the feeling in my legs for at least five years, if at all. My father, Dr. Harold J. Goebel, began treating me with chiropractic care. After only one year under his care, 85% of the sensation returned and I had full use of my legs."
"Even though my father and grandfather were both chiropractors, I was always interested in a career in medicine," Dr. Goebel continues. " I was not certain of my career path, however, until my recovery from that injury. I saw first hand what chiropractic care could accomplish, and I became convinced a career in chiropractic was to be my destiny as well. Now, I'm a third generation chiropractic physician."
After completing his undergraduate studies at Ball State University, Dr. Goebel attended the National College of Chiropractic, presently known as the National University of Health Sciences, where he earned a Bachelors of Science and graduated in 1985 with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
"Our purpose at Goebel Chiropractic is to serve our patients with the highest quality chiropractic care and to educate them so they may educate others. I have personally seen what chiropractic care can accomplish, even in the most hopeless of situations. I have made it my life’s goal to give that gift back to as many people who will allow me to, " beams Dr. Goebel.
Dr. Goebel enjoy all types of sports including water (yes, even after the accident), snow, football, and basketball, etc. He and his son, Brayton, are rabid Colts fans.
" I ‘m also a huge fan of Fresh Fiber First (ask me about it), along with daily exercise to include speed walking, yoga, light weight lifting."
"I consider myself an excellent listener and hope I get the opportunity to meet you in person and discuss your specific health challenges. Give our office a call or email me with the link below.

Dr. Gary Hopkins
"I thought my mother had lost her mind," continues Dr. Hopkins. "That was the first thought that crossed my mind when my mom told me she was seeing a chiropractor for her chronic headaches. I was a medic in the U.S. Navy and intended on becoming a medical doctor after my enlistment. I couldn’t imagine what a chiropractor could do about anything, let alone headaches. As is the case for most people with a bias against chiropractic, my opinion was based in ignorance."
Dr. Hopkins agreed to meet with her doctor, though, and discussed the rich philosophy and scientific evidence that was the foundation of the chiropractic profession. Based on what he heard during that meeting and independent research, Dr. Hopkins decided to pursue a career as a doctor of chiropractic. By the way, his mother got better relief from her headaches from chiropractic care then from any of the medical care she had received.
Dr. Hopkins began his collegiate education at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and completed it in 1987 at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He then moved to Fort Wayne to establish his practice and "put down roots". He has been in private practice since the spring of 1988 and has been associated with Goebel Chiropractic since shortly after that.
"I remember being a skeptic, so I’m never insulted when faced with someone who is struggling with their decision to see a chiropractor. I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to help many folks resolve both their fears and their health issues", smiles Dr. Hopkins.
Dr. Hopkins is married to Mary and they have three children, Kirsten, Annika and Sean. The last two were born at home and all three children were raised without vaccinations and no major health problems. "The only exception was Sean, who had to have his tonsils removed after they had become chronically infected and no longer responded to medication. That served as a reminder that there is a time and place for medicine and surgery, but in the end all they could do was remove the diseased parts," says Dr. Hopkins.
"Thank you for visiting our site. I hope it can be a source of hope and the first step toward a healthier life for you and your family. If you have any questions, please call us or click on the ‘Email the Doctor’ button at the bottom of every page."
